Thanks to Alex Cavanaugh for hosting a blogfest right up my alley. My theme for A-Z this year is movies, so this will be a nice little tune-up for April. There's probably still time to join the fun. Just click the big ol' badge and share your top 10.
The movies on my list are more than just movies to me, they are memories of time shared with important people in my life. And every time I watch them, they have the power to create new and lasting memories. This is a theme I plan on exploring quite a bit during A-Z, the memories that movies have given me. Since I'll probably write about all of my top 10 in one way or another, for this post I'll just go with a basic list.
10) The Empire Strikes Back
9) Stand By Me
8) Raising Arizona
7) Say Anything
6) To Kill a Mockingbird
5) Up
4) Pulp Fiction
3) Wonder Boys
2) Little Miss Sunshine
1) The Big Lebowski
I'm looking forward to checking out as many of the top tens as I can. If you're not doing your own top 10 for the blogfest, maybe you could leave some of your favorites in the comments.
Your list confuses me. You have several movies I really don't like at all, plus one of my favorites - Little Miss Sunshine - I am sorry I left it off of my list.

Up is a great great show filled with character arc. And the best love love story without a word spoken. A real tear jerker with Ellie.
ReplyDeleteOh, Stand By Me is a great movie. And Little Miss Sunshine and Raising Arizona too. I knew you'd have a great list. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how movies can bring you right back to another time and place (one not on the screen). Wonderful movies on your list.
ReplyDeleteLittle Miss Sunshine... great film, with a great keep on running film... bravo!

Such a great list. It's good to meet you, Tim! :)
ReplyDeleteI blame the Empire Strikes Back for many, many things, like my love of hurt/comfort, thank you Luke and Han, my love of Jedi like powers and so much more. The fact that the good guys did not totally win was an utterly new concept when I was 7 :).
ReplyDeleteUp right next to Pulp Fiction, there are two movies you don't often see in the same context :), both brilliant.
If you're going to pick a Star Wars film, Empire is it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in my blogfest.
Love Stand By Me and Say Anything. I also love Empire Strikes Back. Ironically, Raising Arizona is on my 10 Movies that I Hate The Most. Hahahaha. However, different strokes makes the world go round:)
ReplyDeleteSay Anything and To Kill a mockingbird are surely some of my favorites, along with star wars, nice list.
ReplyDeleteThis now is going to remind me to watch To Kill A Mockingbird...I have the DVD just need to put it in. Raising Arizona is a Coen movie so of course it is on here. Empire Strikes Back...duh great pick!
ReplyDeleteaww. Up was an awesome movie.

I've got to love a list that has To Kill a Mockingbird, Up, and Pulp Fiction side by side. Great picks.
ReplyDeleteEmpire Strikes Back is definitely coming out on top of the Star Wars pile. Saw To Kill a Mockingbird in school - what a classic, and Up was brilliantly sweet! Great diversity in the list.
ReplyDeleteStand by Me is my top ten too. Have you seen The Grey? Or The Perks of Being a Wallflower? Or Rust & Bone? Those would be three of my favourites from this year.
ReplyDeleteI love The Grey-very underrated. My wife and I just watched Perks, and while I did enjoy it, I was kind of hung up on the idea that these hip kids weren't aware of a David Bowie song-didn't ring true to me. Definitely a high quality teen movie though. I haven't seen Rust and Bone-it's in my queue-I'll move it to the front.
DeleteJust dropping by from the blog hop. Interesting list though neither of ours overlap. :3
ReplyDeleteLove all these:
ReplyDelete10) The Empire Strikes Back
9) Stand By Me
2) Little Miss Sunshine
1) The Big Lebowski
Don't think I've seen any of the rest!
Great list. I'm with u on number 9 and 2! Stopping by from a-z challenge.
