Words to Live By

I don't know about you, but my daily vernacular is peppered with movie quotes. My movie-saturated brain enjoyed this collection of movie lines and catch phrases, many of which I routinely employ.

My favorites:

"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." One of many classic lines from The Princess Bride, one of the most quotable movies of all time.

"I want my two dollars." This one is an underappreciated gem from the John Cusack oeuvre.

"I'm walkin here!" I can't tell you how many times I've dropped Ratso Rizzo while trying to negotiate crowded school halls.

I know there are going to be worthy movies left out of a collection of this nature, but there are two omissions I cannot abide. Fletch and The Big Lebowski are chock-full of classic lines, and I find it hard to believe that both movies were shut out.

I'd love to know which lines are your favorite, and which movies were shut out that you find hard to believe.

  3. Great video, you damn dirty ape.

More recently... "Is it our time Sheriff?" Teardrop from Winter's Bone.

  4. I loved it and will have to show it to the Hubby. He is the movie/tv/stand up quoting king and would know far more than I on such a topic. I think men do this more than women. So in this case I would have to say "We're not worthy."

  5. There were a couple that I was surprised that weren't in there. As Munk said, Monty Python. But also:
“Leave the guns. Take the cannoli.” (The Godfather)
    “Baby steps” (What About Bob)
"Nobody puts 'Baby' in a corner.” (Dirty Dancing)
“Snakes. I hate snakes.” (Raiders of the Lost Ark)

  6. I haven't had a chance yet to watch the video, but I would bet my favorite in not in there.

"It's Africa Hot" Matthew Brodrick from Biloxi Blues.

  7. OT: Better Off Dead has to be one of the best teen movies of the 80's.

    Selina: I'm not sure, Bambi?

Munk: Gotta love the Heston. Right on with the Python.

Nari: Nice use of Wayne's World. You're probably right that guys do the movie quote thing more than women.

    Squilla: Impressive Jody!

James: Broderick makes an appearance, but the computer gets all the glory.

  8. Definitely could've used a few more from Office Space. The whole "O Face" seen kills me every time.

Two movies that who's omissions I cannot abide:

    Raising Arizona.

Police: What did the pajamas look like?
Nathan Arizona Sr.: I don't know - they were jammies! They had Yodas 'n' shit on 'em!

    and Kingpin.

  12. Mike: Forgot Raising Arizona-"Take your damn hands off my wife."

Squilla: Good one Jody-"Of course I'm not wearing my underwear."

Munk: I'm assuming that's Kingpin-seen it, just not enough for the quotes to have implanted on my brain.
